This Christmas proved that more really can be less…
I got more outdoor gear and it weighs a lot less than my old stuff!
I was pretty jealous of my friend Rob’s Mariposa Plus during our last hike on Cape Chignecto; while I was humping around my Arc’teryx Altra 75 at 2.3 Kg’s, he was trotting around with a mere 632 grams of backpack!
I also had major mattress envy during my West Coast Trail trip this summer as my Dad kept puffing up his NeoAir to sleep on. Now my back will be happy all day and all night. I even got the chance to put the NeoAir to a preliminary test when I was kicked out of my bed to accomodate visiting relatives over Christmas. It’s not very wide, but it was sufficient even for me as a side sleeper and I’m happy to say that I’ve never had such a comfortable night on a hardwood floor before.
Overall, this Christmas brought me a weight savings of over 1900 grams and added comfort at that!
I hope everyone has as happy a New Year hiking as I’m going to have!
